Can a physically similar infrared lamp be used as a replacement?

Not necessarily. Replacement lamps should match the required voltage, wattage, dimensions, quartz type, base configuration, burning position, and other specifications required by the equipment manufacturer.

What safety precautions should be followed when using this infrared lamp?

Infrared lamps operate at very high temperatures and can present burn, eye, fire, electrical, and breakage hazards. Do not look directly at the operating lamp or touch it until it has fully cooled. Keep combustible materials away from the heating area and disconnect electrical power before installation, removal, cleaning, or servicing.
