What does the R7s base mean?

R7s is a double-ended lamp base commonly used with linear quartz lamps. Replacement lamps should match the required contact-to-contact length as well as the electrical and dimensional specifications of the equipment.

Can a physically similar R7s infrared lamp be used as a replacement?

Not necessarily. Replacement lamps should match the required voltage, wattage, overall length, contact-to-contact length, bulb diameter, base, burning position, and other specifications required by the equipment manufacturer.

What safety precautions should be followed when using this infrared lamp?

Infrared lamps operate at very high temperatures and can present burn, eye, fire, electrical, and breakage hazards. Do not look directly at the operating lamp or touch it until it has fully cooled.
