Product Description

Ushio UXL-S75XE (P/N 5000376)

is an 80 watt xenon short-arc lamp engineered for instruments that demand a compact, daylight-like point source with excellent arc stability. Its tightly controlled 1.3 mm cold arc gap, external trigger wire, and optimized electrode geometry produce high luminance and fast, repeatable ignition—ideal for optical benches, imaging systems, and measurement platforms that rely on consistent irradiance over time. An ozone-free construction simplifies integration, while vertical (±10°) burn orientation and low ripple (≤1% p-p, with a constant-power supply) support stable operation and longer, more predictable service intervals. Typical specifications include 15 V operating voltage at 5.4 A, ~6000 K correlated color temperature, ~1,600 lm total luminous flux, and a 2,000-hour average rated life when used within the stated electrical and thermal limits. Use the UXL-S75XE to upgrade legacy mercury sources or to build new analytical and imaging systems where uniformity, spectral quality, and uptime matter.

Applications

Spectroscopy & Analytical Systems

  • Stable point source for UV-Vis optical benches and monochromators
  • Reference-quality daylight-like spectrum for photometry and radiometry

Microscopy & Imaging

  • High-luminance illumination for transmitted/reflected light microscopy
  • Uniform coupling to fiber or Köhler illumination paths

Solar Simulation & Photovoltaics

  • Compact source for small-area solar simulators and materials testing
  • Fast warm-up vs. mercury lamps; minimal chromatic shift with input variations

Borescopy & NDT

  • Bright, focused light for fiberscopes and inspection systems
  • Reliable restarts for intermittent, operator-driven workflows

Machine Vision & Metrology

  • Daylight-like spectrum supports accurate color and defect detection
  • High luminance improves optical throughput in telecentric setups

Features

  • Daylight-like spectrum: Near-continuous visible output supports accurate color rendering and spectral measurements.

High Pressure Xenon Lamp Spectrum

  • High arc stability: Enhanced electrode design and vertical burn reduce arc wander for repeatable irradiance at the sample plane.
  • Fast ignition & stabilization: Quick start and minimal shift with input variations streamline time-sensitive workflows.
  • Ozone-free construction: Simplifies integration and reduces ventilation requirements at the system level.
  • Optimized for constant-power supplies: Specified ≤1% ripple helps preserve arc stability and lamp life.
  • Predictable service life: Up to 2,000 hours average rated life under specified electrical/thermal conditions.
  • Compact geometry: 1.3 mm arc gap and small envelope enable efficient optical coupling.

FAQs

  • What power supply should I use? Several OEM's produce constant-power xenon power supplies capable of ~15 V at 5.4 A with ≤1% ripple, ~35 kV trigger, and ~100 V open-circuit capability.  Contact us for our up to date OEM recommendations.
  • Is the UXL-S75XE ozone-free? Yes; its ozone-free construction simplifies ventilation requirements.
  • What burn position is required? Vertical within ±10°. Operating outside this range can reduce stability and life.
  • How long will the lamp last?  Typically ~2,000 hours under rated conditions;  The average life specification represents continuous operation at rated power until luminous flux or horizontal irradiance declines to ~70% of initial, or when re-ignition is no longer possible. Use of a high-quality constant-power supply within the specified ripple limit is required for stability and life.  A high ripple current, over-temperature, or frequent power cycling may shorten life.
